Types and Manufacturing Process of Chemical Fibers

SYNTHETIC FIBERS

Polyethylene Fibers

Fibers manufactured from polyethylene produced by polymerizing ethylene. Although polyethylene fibers are very strong but poor in heat resistance. Polyethylene fibers are not used for clothing but used for industrial uses.

High-tenacity polyethylene fibers produced with a special manufacturing procedure are three times strong than (high-tenacity) nylon fibers and are used for an anchoring rope.

1. END-USES
Insect-proofing Nets, Cords and Strings, Fishing Nets, Ropes, Fishing line, Filter Cloth, Threads for sewing Tatami Mats, etc.
2. FEATURES
  1. Strong, resistant to chemical agents little water and moisture absorbent.
  2. Light (0.94~0.96 in specific gravity) fibers next to polypropylene fibers.
  3. Poor in thermal resistance.
